Devil Deceptions

In every warfare, it is imperative that we know the enemy.  In this great controversy, this drama of the ages, it is no different. 

"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:  for we are not ignorant of his devices."  2 Corinthians 2:11

While our heavenly Father can use only those means which are consistent with His character of truth and righteousness, Satan can and does use every deceptive means within his power in this warfare, even playing both ends against the middle.  He leaves no means untried and is ingenious of sweeping the multitude into his net.  Satan is a master at weaving just enough truth into his sophistries to make them plausible.

It is a solemn reality that to every truth and divine purpose, Satan has a counterfeit.  In systems of religion, in government, in the home, in the school and university, in church, in music, in art, in science, in literature, in worship, in the medical arts, in diet, in doctrine, and in every area and interest of man, Satan has a counterfeit.  Often the counterfeit is so close to the genuine, that few discern his machinations.

It is necessary, therefore, that each of us studies for himself the Scripture of Truth in order that we be not deceived and find ourselves unprepared for the great day of the LORD.  Everything is to be taken to the test of Isaiah 8:20---the Law of ten commandments.  If it does not bear this test, it is not true.
